College Officiating vs NFL Officiating

Watching Tennessee vs Georgia

First down pass was dropped
Tenn tried to quickly snap the ball
They got the play off but hen it was whistled dead
Replay officials send the buzz to review
Officials are reviewing the replay
to make sure they get the call right

NFL
If you can get the snap off before the other team challenges you win
No way do they care to make sure they get the call right

Why wouldn't the NFL have replay officials to make sure they get calls right?

They all suck.

College officiating is a lot better than NFL. It's really not close.

Except that they didn't. Because the play was snapped, they reviewed the 2nd down play instead and confirmed it. So, no difference.

Better officiating. More enjoyable football. As a guy with a trash football program to follow, I still watch twice the college games as I do NFL anymore.

I watched the same series of events in the Tenn/GA game, but Uncle Vern and Gary were completely confused and I'm sure it caused a lot of people confusion.

There were two plays in quick succession, play 1, was called a completed catch even though the replays showed he didnt catch the ball. Tenn, however, did rush the next snap and attempted a pass in the flat (play 2), which was trapped on the ground and ruled incomplete.

So Play 1 was ruled complete and Play 2 ruled incomplete. Immediately after Play 2 the referee announces they're reviewing the play. So Gary and Vern kept talking about Play 1 and the TV crew kept showing the replay of Play 1. Gary and Vern were confused because Tenn got a play off and didnt understand why they would be reviewing Play 1. So, referee comes back and announces that after review the call on the field was confirmed, 'incomplete pass', and announced 3rd down.

At no time was Play 1 reviewed even though it should have been, but credit to Tenn they got the snap off. Even after the referee's announcement Gary and Vern were still clueless as to what happened.

Suffice to say, the end of that game was epic.

*edit* What Flop said, much more succinctly than I did...

Someone hasn't watched Pac12 refs work their magic.

It played out crazy but the effort to make the right call is there

Tenn vs Georgia ended up being one of the best games I've got to watch

Amazing ending
