A Smith Running the Ball

Here's an interesting article regarding Smith's running performance this year.

Sound like the coaches do not encourage nor discourage it -- seems to be up to Alex whether to take off or not.

YES!!!!!!

Another Alex Smith thread, please post MOAAAARRR!!!!

I've been screaming that he needs to scramble more.

He's not seeing WRs who are wide the **** open, so I'd rather he keep the offense efficient and productive with his legs instead of this bullshit he sets his offensive line up for failure with his lack of QB clock and terrible skittishness.

Always happy to provide!

But actually, this is the first time I've heard coaches say that running with the ball was entirely up to Alex. For some reason or other, I was under the impression that the coaches had more input on this. Kinda felt that they generally discouraged it. Looks like I was wrong.

We definitely need Alex to scramble more.

Clay, my thought on this is that it appears when he is effectively scrambling, his game seems to elevate. Seems like he gets his head in the game better when he does a little running. Alex seems a pretty laid back guy, so maybe he just needs a run or two to light the fire. Spitballing here, but he does seem more effective once he sprints for a first down or two.

I think he should run more because that will expose him to hits and maybe someone will ring his bell enough to have to take a seat.

If he keeps taking too shallow of a drop on designed roll-outs and subsequently running headlong into defensive ends, you just might have that wish come true.

He will see those open guys the same day ASS11s balls drop :)

Alex is usually a one read and go guy. I think when Andy came to town he brought Alex in to run the O and play it safe with the ball. Play D and FP and grind out points, however meager. So in years past Alex would make his 1st read and if the D's left him a spot on the field to run to, especially on later downs, he was content to take it and make it to the next play.

I also think because Andy's O has not grown or adapted in the 4 years he has been in kc teams are keeping a spy around or letting the deep men go and play zone under as well as collapsing the pocket so he has no where to run.

It should not be about the lack of running to make the chiefs better, they should be talking about a passing attack that pushes downfield.

This is Clay level of low. Essentially he got himself banned a year ago for saying dumb **** like this.

LMAO. Looks like Pittsburgh doubled Maclin, but blew the rest of the coverage.

Whats funny is you can see the Pitt DB breaking off the WR at the 25yrd line leaving him open for an easy 6, to come up to cover the guy waving his hands in the air that hes open. Once flustered in the pocked Alex was ALL IN on running, so it didnt matter where or how many receivers were open, he wasnt going to see them anyway.
