Me and neighborhood safety

1 Attachment(s)
The picture below is my house with a dot and a curve. The road is 30 mph and the curve is clearly not a 30 mph curve.

I have a radar gun and often sit on the curve and gun cars. Most are good. Some are not.

A guy stopped today and told me not to radar him. Was an ass about it. Said he was gong to take the curve at 30 because it was the speed limit. Had a discussion. I was as nice as I could and asked him to just be slower when he was driving through. He was still an ass. Had another resident claim it was harassment

Am I wrong to do this? We have 20 kids in the lots visible and more will be on the way. All lots have houses now.

To add humor-I could be this woman

I am going to the city to talk about options.

I would be annoyed if any douchey neighbors were out trying radaring me as I drove by, and certainly would be doing them no favors.

You are in your legal right to do that, by all means. It's not like you're shinning a laser at them or doing something dangerous.

If it was me driving by and I saw you doing it consistently, you'd get a loud honk and I'd flip you the bird each and every time.

I'd scare the shit out if you and unload my train horn air tank.

displacedinMN 08-31-2017 09:32 PM

Lew-I would expect nothing less from you and would enjoy it every time.

Love your concern and looking out for the kids.

But this does come off as kinda douchey

We had a similar guy in my neighborhood a few years ago. Dude stood on a corner and wrote down license plates for everyone who didn't stop at a stop sign or sped. Ultimately it accomplished nothing except pissed off neighbors

It's within your right but not really helping anything. If you feel that curve is a safety issue at 30mph maybe contact the city...

Rain Man 08-31-2017 09:35 PM

It's noble of you, but you're on the inside of the curve. That was a good move. Never buy a house on the outside of a sharp curve. Your neighbors should be the ones who are doing this.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-31-2017 09:36 PM

Contact the city. That's kind of weird dude.

Frazod 08-31-2017 09:37 PM

It would annoy the **** out of me.

Kyle DeLexus 08-31-2017 09:40 PM

What are you accomplishing? Maybe you should buy one of those radar signs that show the driver their speed. At least then the driver would have feedback. As it is you are sitting there radaring people doing absolutely nothing.

I live on a major though fare and coming down a hill into my residence it is 35 mph, turning into 30 at my house most people seem to think it's 50. F em. Speed zones are for a reason. For me, backing out of the driveway safely.

Next time somebody stops and bitches pull the. 357 out of your holster and ask if they want to talk any more.

stumppy 08-31-2017 09:42 PM

Do the neighborhood kids hang out around the curve?
