I looked up his contract and it's only for 17. It say ErFA for 18.

He was drafted in 2017.

The Chiefs signed him to their 53 man roster and have his Exclusive Rights until the end of the 2019 season.

At that point, they can either extend him, give him a 1st-7th round tender or pay him the equivalent of a 5th rounder drafted in 2017 in 2020.

He won’t be an Unrestricted Free Agent until 2021, unless he’s released in his 4th year and passes through waivers.

Butker is the future of this team. Give him Mahomes to put the team in field goal position and he'll kick us to a championship.

At least I assume that's how it works. It's the only method I've seen for the past 40 years.
