Chiefs Offseason Planet Evaluation: Albert Wilson

This will be one of the more interesting evaluations. Tell me what you think about Albert Wilson.

Poll coming faster than a Chiefs exit from the playoffs.

Albert appeared in 13 games and started 7.
He recorded 42 receptions for 554 yards (13.2 ypc) and 3 TD. 0 fumbles.

He added 3 rushes for 6 yards as well.

Going with a solid B here, 500+ yards for a guy like him is excellent and he can do a little bit of everything

Personally, I think the 10 catches on 10 targets for 147 yards in week 17 say more about what Wilson's value to the team is going forward vs all of his other stats for the year combined do.

I grew to really like him this year and I think the Mahomes start gave good flashes of what he can do in an offense that allows him to play in space. Alligator arms, somewhat unreliable hands, inconsistent focus. But he's pretty solid running after the catch and I thought he showed a lot more ability as a pure receiver this year. Made a few really nifty grabs in big time situations. Actually, I think he was pretty reliable in the 4th quarter this year. I don't think he'll be expensive to re-sign. Seems like a solid slot option to me especially at the price he'll command.

Gotta go with a solid B.
It sure seemed like he played a lot more than he did.

He shines when given the opportunity. Dude’ made some clutch plays over the past couple seasons and his apparent rapport with Mahomes is encouraging.

Not worth anything over $4-5m AAV though, IMO.

He may be the first player in Chiefsplanet history to swing from a negative evaluation to a positive one.

I'm not sure that I'd want to see a bigger role for him next year, but I'd be fine keeping him in the role he's got, and I wouldn't trade him for peanuts. I think he's close to his ceiling, but perhaps has a little more room to grow.

Gave him a B for most of the year, but he loses two full grades due to that playoff drop. He finally played hard and well during his "contract year"... but showed what he is, in the end... a backup receiving option.

Meh, he isnt a superstar receiver, he'll have some drops here and there but his overall production was perfectly acceptable

That's a pretty extreme punishment for a ball that was a difficult catch for someone his size.

Wilson with Robinson/Conley is more than fine for me. Yes in a perfect world we would have a veteran #2 but with the positions we need to fix I don't think we can spend any real capital on a WR.

Jeez guys, I thought I was being generous with a C+.

He played well enough that if he signs with another team in the offseason we may say something like "well, that sucks" but he is not a guy worth bidding against another team for.

Respect for the YAC, running abilities, scrappyness.

Disrespect for his situational awareness.

Solid C+.

When do we get to Justin Houston so i can give somebody a F-?

Elevated his status from a C player to a B.

Probably can't afford him going forward but I think he'd be worth it.

Are you grading him a C+ as a 3/4 WR or just as a WR?

TLO 01-14-2018 12:11 PM

B-

Good blocker and can flash in the passing game. Will also drop an easy pass at an opportune time.

as a number 3 or 4. If i was just generalizing all wide receivers he would be a D- or so.
