Chiefs updated cap

What are we looking at here? Per this tweet from Terez, we rolled over $2.6 million.

https://mobile.twitter.com/TerezPayl...02439328346112

Per OTC, we had $12,594 this year, so the rollover would still make it $2.6 million.

Here’s the money we’d save from moves we’ve made:

Alex trade-$17 million
Peters trade-$1.7 million
DJ-$0 (voided contract)
Parker cut-$4.9 million

So as of now I believe that should put us at $26.2 million (if this is not accurate let me know).

Other potential moves coming:

Tamba cut-$7.6 million
Nelson trade?-$1.9 million
Sorenson cut-$3.8 million (post June 1st)
Bailey cut-$5.9 million
Ford 5th yr option TBD-$8.7 million

That’s....a lot of money to spend. And it’s not counting the cap rise

We should keep Bailey and Sorenson

DaNewGuy 02-26-2018 04:38 PM

We need to lock up Albert

Chiefnj2 02-26-2018 04:38 PM

Impossible. Dorsey screwed the cap beyond belief.

Sign Kyle Fuller

How much does Parker save?

NJChiefsFan 02-26-2018 04:44 PM

Wtf is this Nelson trade crap? Are we serious. Is Fuller gonna play three positions at once??!!!!

Neither the Rams cap or draft capital will even notice anything went missing for the Peters trade. I think the Rams owe us a fruit basket or something.

Kiimo 02-26-2018 04:44 PM

4.9m. I know because it says so right up there.

Well, Clark is going to pay a metric **** ton of dead money this year. He was already paying almost $6 million to Jeremy Maclin and Jah Reid before any moves from this offseason were made.

Well, a few things:

1. For the love of God, use this website: https://overthecap.com/calculator/kansas-city-chiefs/

2. "not counting the cap rise". Actually, ti does. The OTC website I liked estimates the cap at $179.6M, which is a reasonable but not very conservative estimate.

3. Cutting the above players, ignoring the Ford option impact, results in the Chiefs having nearly $40 million of cap space. Quite alot, but need to set aside some for draft picks and mid-year flexibility. Will also need to be mindful that if Mahomes performs very well, he is going to be looking for a substantial bump and extending him next offseason might be alot cheaper than waiting for him to complete his fourth year.

But yeah, some bucks to spend it looks like.

Maclin will be available if Reid wants him back.
