Nick Nelson CB Wisconsin

HT: 5'11" WT: 200LBS.
POSITION: CB
SCHOOL: Wisconsin
ARM LENGTH: 30 3/4"
HANDS: 9 1/4"

I’m really intrigued with Nelson in rounds 3-4. He’s a good man press corner and fits the aggressive and press philosophy KC is moving back to. He does tend to be “grabby” but I like his ability. He needs to trust his technique. He doesn’t get easily baited on double moves and has good play recognition. He’s got good closing speed and can make plays on the ball. He likes to hit and tackle. Obviously I don’t have the all-22 tape on him and can only watch the highlights on YouTube.

What are your thoughts?

Sounds like a 5th round pick.

Which we don't have

Mother****erJones 04-06-2018 02:42 PM

****!

Whelp let’s move back into round 5 or take him with one of the two 4ths we have.

kccrow 04-06-2018 05:49 PM

He was a 4th round player before the injury. Probably get him in the 6th.

If KC get him in round 6, I’m going to dance

I'm honestly not that enthralled with him. He's ok. Watched alot of Wisconsin games. I live in the heart of the Big 10. He's certainly not a dynamic playmaker by any means and he isn't a super sticky cover guy either, and when he is sticky it's usually of the penalized variety. He honestly fits a zone team better than a man team even though he played a lot of man and off man at Wisconsin. He's basically the same player that Mitchell was to me but with worse ball skills.

He’s very grabby and that’s something I’m hoping they could coach out of him.

Can someone rationalize why Tarvarus McFadden is graded as a low third round, high fourth round pick projection? Is it the slow 40 time (4.67)?
He is good at press man and has a knack for finding the ball creating turnovers. I’ve read that he isn’t always great at tracking the ball in the air, but the guy produced last season. Seems physical enough and not shy to tackle in the run game. Any FSU fans with perspective on this guy? Is he scheme limited? Not athletic enough? What gives? He tends to make things happen in that FSU secondary....

I am pretty sure he was slated as a 1/2 rounder until the combine. Guys like him and Tim Settle, who have been plummeting in mocks due to combine performance, seem like they could be absolute steals to me if the mocks are accurate. Both interviewed by the Chiefs too.
