AV ratings are out: Mahomes led NFL (22)
 

For those that like advanced analytics, ProFootballReference does “approximate value” ratings for each player. Ranges from 0 (Chad Henne 2018 Chiefs) to 26 (Ladanian Tomlinson 2006 Chargers).


Just look at this:

1. Mahomes 22
2. Goff 18
Tyreek 18
Leonard (IND) 18
Schwartz!! 18
6. Brees 17
Mack 17. Etc

Notes:

1. We had 3 of the top 5 NFL players. That’s insane and without looking that’s surely the only time in nfl history that happened
2. Mahomes has the 5 best QB season ever, training only 07 Brady, 11 Rodgers, 93 Young and 94 Young. (His 22 AV is one better than 84 Marino and 04 Peyton...and Elway and Montana never even reached 20 in a season)
3. The AV all time ranking shows only 15 players ever had a season greater than 22.
4. Schwartz’ 18 is higher than Roaf or Shields or Alt or Waters ever reached
5. His 18 is identical to DTs max high 1990 when he had 20 sacks.
6. Tyreek’s 18 greater than Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham, etc career highs. However he did not set Chiefs record (66 Otis Taylor had a 20!)
7. Jerry Rice only had 3 better years in his career(1993-95) than Tyreek 2018. Terrell Owens 01 matched it.
8. Kelce 15 AV broke Tony G career best of 13.

Mahomes is going to break the Sandbox Simulation engine

Makes sense. Tyreek effects every snap in so many ways before the ball is even snapped. Not sure I’d want another weapon in the league over him right now.

The Schwartz thing is crazy. His 4 years in Cleve his AV scores were single digits. His 3 here he’s zoomed up and was a top-5 player in the entire League. I don’t know how they call OL values but good lord of true, Mitch is the greatest FA signing in team history

Remember when Jalen Ramsey said Tyreek made the Pro Bowl only by his skills as a kick returner?

Goff at 18 is surprising.

Absolute truth.

I've occasionally wondered how much of Mahomes success is due to Hill - not that he wouldn't still be great - but Hill is such a threat/decoy it makes Patricks job much easier. We definitely need a 'burner' with great hands on our team for all of Mahomes career.

Why?

It'd be great to have another one as well.

It's crazy to think about all the "Chiefs Fans" who didn't want him on the team.

Because there are alot of wide open throws in their RPO offense.

He struggled down the stretch of the season. Plus it seems like his OL gives him a ton of time to throw.

Been saying it for awhile but Goff is that team's MVP and very possibly the best pure thrower in the game right now.

Not the best or most dynamic QB by any stretch, but if you give him a clean pocket and weapons that can get a little bit of separation, his ability to hit them is exceptional.

He's underrated around here for sure, probably because he wasn't very impressive at first.

He's a good QB. He can drop some dimes.

I said week 1 that Goff was the only guy who could 1-for-1 Mahomes in trade value. That’s not the case anymore, esp with the extra year of control Pat brings, but it’s not very far off. If Goff played here, he’d be putting up comparable numbers even if not quite as good.
