My favorite comment: "How many Super Bowls would Tom Brady win after taking a shot like that?"

Pitt Gorilla 02-05-2019 01:37 PM

Bell done kilt em.

Munson 02-05-2019 01:37 PM

Looks like Bradshaw was 3 yards out of bounds before getting hit. LMAO

redfan 02-05-2019 01:39 PM

Juuuuuuust a little outside.

Rasputin 02-05-2019 01:40 PM

****ing A hit

Buehler445 02-05-2019 01:46 PM

Good god.

This is why Patrick Mahomes needs to not run.

Mahomer 02-05-2019 01:47 PM

Man, it must have been crazy playing back then when these killers could just break you apart unimpeded.

Athletic freak of nature; 6'4" and 235lbs, ran a 4.5 and scored nine touchdowns. He and Buck Buchanan were destroyers of men.

No wonder he hates the Chiefs

I saw part of that reconstructed game film of Super Bowl IV, and given that very few guys on the field weighed more than 250, it seemed like there was a ton of speed on the field. Everything was happening fast.

That may be a bit of an optical illusion, because I think some of the behemoths now are as fast and quick as the 250-pounders back then. But man, it just looked like a faster game.

Bobby Bell was Justin Houston before Justin Houston. And he deep snapped on punts and field goals too. Just an amazing player. Yeah, that hit was a wee bit late :)

Forward Progress

Lol Tom Brady would just get out of bounds or go down before he could get hit. That's what he's been doing for years. So he wouldn't be taking that hit.

Brady wouldn't be quick enough to go down, and in those days getting out of bounds didn't stop the hit, as you can see above. Brady would be carried off on a stretcher.

Show a gif of a quarterback in the 70's standing the pocket to throw a ball and then get slammed to the ground, then I would agree.

But the video showed in the OP's post is just a guy getting out of bounds. Brady would go down or run out of bounds earlier. One thing that doesn't get talked about is how Brady and Manning would go down right away instead of taking a hit to protect themselves.
