The Greatest Movie Franchises of All Time - Elite 8

You can view the entire tournament bracket here as we go along, but here's the current state:

Please vote for the franchise in each pair that you feel is most deserving of being in consideration for the Greatest Movie Franchise of All Time. I'll put one of these up every day or two as we go along. So vote!

Possible Concerns and Responses:
  1. A franchise I like isn't on the list! Too bad. Nominations are closed. This is just a fun offseason diversion, but feel free to complain in the thread if it will make you feel better.
  2. There's something on the list that I don't even think is a franchise! Don't vote for it.
  3. There's something on the list that I don't recognize. Yeah, there are a few that I don't recognize either. If you feel generous, look it up and determine if you think it's worthy. Or just don't vote for it. Either option is allowed.
  4. The seeding seems weird (or there's something I have no idea how it got in there). The seeding is based on total estimated tickets from Box Office Mojo, but some older franchises were randomly seeded since we don't have any data available about their ticket sales. Again, if you don't feel something is deserving, don't vote for it!

It's going to come down to:

Marvel vs. Bond
LOTR vs. Star Wars

And if I'm picking....the finals are Marvel vs. LOTR.

Batman fell as our first one seed to go, but I think the other three are PROBABLY safe through this round. We'll see.

I'm definitely intrigued how LOTR and the Godfather shake out, though.

WTF who keeps voting for Marvel shit?

A ton of us. :)

It cracks me up that people don't think it's a HUGE franchise. There are almost as many movies in the MCU as there are Bond movies, and they've done it in about 1/5th the time. The MCU has outsold both Star Wars and Bond in tickets by a wide margin.

Like it or not, it's a box office juggernaut.

I went with:

Indiana Jones
Star Wars
LOTR
James Bond

However it turns out I'm just glad to know that the first two Godfather films rank #2 and #3 on IMDb top 250

IMDb top 250

Batman's greatest issue is that there were some real clunkers in the late 90s. If it'd all been as good as The Dark Knight, it would definitely be up there as a contender.

Yep.

Indy is going to take down Marvel, and rightly so.

Yeah, definitely looks like that could possibly be the upset of the round. Time will tell.
