“The next Mahomes” bullshit

This shit is getting out of hand. I mean FFS I get Pat is now THE prototype, but come on. I feel like 5 different guys have been talked about as “the next Mahomes”. Hopefully this is just offseason fodder and it doesn’t leak into the season.

Here are some dumbass examples of this

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Kyler Murray is already getting compared to Patrick Mahomes: <a href="https://t.co/QC0iZJnrgZ">https://t.co/QC0iZJnrgZ</a> <a href="https://t.co/DBboVYAcsp">pic.twitter.com/DBboVYAcsp</a></p>&mdash; SNF on NBC (@SNFonNBC) <a href="https://twitter.com/SNFonNBC/status/1134098663175786497?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 30, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

There was a Mahomes before Mahomes. His name was Colin Kaepernick.

When the QB star everyone is hoping rookie QB’s can emulate is YOUR QB - it’s an amazing feeling.

I hope there are 50 billion more articles like this over the next 15 years, tbh.

Posts like this aren't doing a lot to debunk the perception that Raider fans are all inbred borderline reeruned ex convicts.

The entertainment will be watching less versed and talented QBs trying to pull off what Mahomes does, like going down to the local BB court and watching everyone thinking they were Jason Williams back in the day.

DBs may not like the idea of facing Mahomes, but they are drooling at the prospect of the league trying to copy him.

LMAO

The only thing Janeane Garofalo has in common with Patrick Mahomes is that he once played on the same field for a game as the opposing QB

And I think all of Arizona's opponents are drooling at the prospect of facing a coach who thinks he's as smart as Andy Reid.

Mahomes is now the NFL Gold Standard....like Rodgers used to be (he's still great).

Amazing that the Chiefs finally have their Montana, Farve,...Manning. A QB that everyone gets compared to...

There wasn't ever a Mahomes before this Mahomes, so I don't expect we'll see the next one anytime soon.

FIFY

Get used to it. We have the measure of every QB to come into the NFL.

Best22 06-02-2019 10:43 PM

Yeah, I really miss the days when NO ONE compared their new young quarterback full of potential...to Alex Smith

WhiteWhale 06-02-2019 10:47 PM

ON a serious note I think it's pretty ****ing awesome that Mahomes is now the new measuring stick for young QB's.

Nothing new. This is what the media does. Except now it's OUR QB everyone is dreaming their guy can match. Not some dickhead in Green Bay or some douchebag in Indiana.

Nope. Our guy.
