-- Talk to me about some gas station food you like
I like Circle K's Krispy Krunchy chicken. I'll put up against any chain as far as quality + value.
What few food items do you like from gas stations and where? |
Fried burritos. Almost anywhere.
Fried chicken gizzards. Ridgedale, Mo near Top of the Rock. |
I can't remember the last time i ate anything from a gas station that wasn't candy or a bag of chips.
|
QT Egg Rolls?
|
There's a gas station kind of in the middle of nowhere, about 20ish miles south of me. I'm drawing a blank on their name, but they have a mom and pop deli attached to them... Their fried chicken, their hot wings in particular, their brats/Italian sausages, and even their pizza are all very good and come through in a pinch.
I do HVAC and, before my accident, I was heading this large project to install new furnaces in this fairly large mobile home park in Wayson's Corner, MD. Right at the entrance is this gas station/truck stop that I'd probably eaten at a handful of times that summer. Cheap and effective, and also a nice break from bringing my own lunch almost every day of the year.. |
They can be hit or miss, but the QT chicken biscuit will do in a pinch. They can dry out quick though, so I do a soft feel around the package to check for any hardened biscuit areas.

Beer

Do you guys have Royal Farms out there? Their chicken, when fresh, is better than any of the chains..
|
Circle K had these greasy ass little tamales that were great with a beer or coke. 2 for $2
Sadly they have stopped distributing to my location. About 30yrs ago the QT $1.59 BBQ Pork Rib was great, they have completely ****ed it up It’s hard to pass a roller brat anywhere if they have them. |
Casey’s pizza is tasty.
|
Casey’s breakfast pizza.
Their normal pizza is good, too. (Sofa beat me by a **** hair) |
Can't vouch for it as fresh, organic, farm-raised, or healthy, but the Buffalo chicken roller at QT is quite useful as a snack.
Cheap, meaty, spicy [actually surprisingly so], not prone to drying out, not messy. If you find yourself checking out and notice you need something to keep you from rage rage for a pending trip, there are worse ways to spend a buck. |
Here we have On the Run which is basically an Exxon station that has a Hunt's Brothers pizza inside. The loaded thin crust is incredible and a large is $10 and change.
|
Casey's pizza is unbeatable, and I would put its pizza against any national pizza chain.
|
Agreed, Casey's pizza.
QuikTrip's new breakfast and lunch soft tacos are decent too. |
