"2-3" is a 6 man slide protection call, "chip" tells the back and TE to chip block, and WASP is like, a concept, a 5 step drop with a shuffle or two, depending. Y is the Y receiver doing the deep post corner with the outside receiver running an in-route. I guess it "funnels" a zone defense? It sure took SF out of their cleats...

Tyreek's cut to the outside confused the hell out of them!

thanks..think i got it..I obviously got the chip, Y, and wasp part. . was just confused on the 2-3 . .

2-3 basically is just the orders to the O-Line on which way to slide when they block. . and the back is supposed to pick up the DE or LB if it comes and chip him before going. .

Funny, the same route concept got Tyreek his only catch in the 2018 AFC Championship Game. That play wasn't a chip, it was Play Action and blocked a bit better, but the exact same route concept with the Jet WASP Y Funnel, so they got Belichick with it, too. The one who sucks the penis.

Fred Warner told the saftey stay in the middle right before the play. . then seeing Tyreek running full speed he had no choice..that deep sideline wasnt even his responsibilty. .

i think this was just a perfect example of the Chiefs adjusting their calls while the 49ers stayed in that same cover 3 on big passing downs. . and never adjusted

still cant believe how it unfolded...getting the previous play overturned actually gave us the time to make that call..and the fact that Mahomes called the play is unreal. .

This is the best explanation of that play I've seen -

yep..this and the HB and Frank Clark Mic'd up are 2 of the best videos ever in the history of videos

"Any down and distance...I dont care"

he literally dropped back 14 yrds from the line of scrimmage to throw that 57 yards in the air

That play basically earned Mahomes the MVP of the game.

The look on Robert Saleh's face immediately after the play.....he knew that was it.

yep and i love how they just turned business after that..Kelce hardly celebrated that TD..they ran off the field becaused they knew they still had work to do

the difference between having Mahomes and a mortal at QB

Chris Simms also had a pretty good breakdown of the play that got into how the play worked because a) that route just shouldn’t work and with a lesser QB it wouldn’t and b) he dissected how the play used the 49er scheme against itself and once Tyreek left the safety’s zone he got handed off but was then able to cut back into the same space. It’s a pretty detailed breakdown that gets into some different things than the turning point video. Will try to find it.

No, no, no. You guys are all wrong. Skip Bayliss told me that play was just all luck.
He’s on tv, so I trust that he doesn’t his research and knows what he’s talking about.
