Derrick Henry may be a free agent

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Titans and Derrick Henry are not expected to reach a long-term deal by Wednesday deadline for franchise players, per source. Henry is scheduled to make $10.27M this season and become a free agent in off-season.<br><br>Any franchise deals by Wednesday will be an exception, not the rule.</p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1282986600566333440?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 14, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I wouldnt pay him long term.

Sassy Squatch 07-14-2020 10:47 AM

If I'm Henry I'm just going down at first contact from now on. That offense ran through him for the second half of the season and they ended up in the AFCCG game, and this is how they thank him.

“Derrick Henry may be a free agent next year” seems like a better thread title.

Sassy Squatch 07-14-2020 10:52 AM

Seriously. 67 touches for 405 yards and 2 TDs against the Patriots and Ravens in the playoffs. Poor bastard just ran out of steam by the time he got to Arrowhead and so did any chance the Titans had.

Mr_Tomahawk 07-14-2020 11:04 AM

It was a good story last year.

But ours was better.

Pass.

Hog's Gone Fishin 07-14-2020 11:05 AM

Henry wants to be a Chief so he don't ever have to face Dirty Dan Sorenson again.

My thoughts exactly.

I read the thread title and assumed I was going to read an article about how the Titans we rescinding the tag, and Henry would be signing with the Chiefs for league minimum. :D

UChieffyBugger says, "PAY HIM MAHOMES MONEY, CLARK!!!!"

Derrick Henry no longer has a career.

You shouldn’t pay him for what he did, you should pay him for what he’s going to do. I don’t think his playing style translates to a long career.

The plus side is, he doesn’t have a lot of carries since he shared the load his first few years.

Tough spot for the Titans. Their offense revolves around him
And Tannehill isn’t the type who can carry you thru by himself.

Glad the Chiefs aren’t that type of team anymore.

Well they gave the big contract to Tannehill.

COVID is probably a big part in this.

Exactly. I see him as a Larry Johnson type, where he will hit a wall and hit it quickly.
