Myles Garrett gets $125 million
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Browns?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Browns</a> and star pass-rusher Myles Garrett are closing in on a 5-year extension worth $125M, sources say. Another massive deal, this time for $25M in new money per year. Their top priority of this offseason and they are in the final stages. 💰💰💰</p>— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1283111304190926849?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 14, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Is he a top 5 player at his position?
|
Saw this coming. Not the actual numbers, but a long-term deal and top-3 money. Browns needed to do this. Garret is the linchpin of their D.

I just looked. Seems he's ranked in the top 5 DE on some sites.
Avg a sack a game until he hit Rudolph. |

Browns gonna Brown.

I’ll take Chris Jones on his deal over Myles Garrett on his deal all day

Probably the best true 4-3 DE in the game. Kid's an absolute monster and among the first few guys in the league I'd look to build a defense around. |

He’ll never sniff a ring.

But when all is said and done, many great players don't. Might as well get rich now and consider ring chasing in 5-6 years. There's no room at the inn here in KC for at least 3-4 seasons (when Clark ages out) so we'll gladly offer him a nice landing spot then. Mahomes will need some veteran leadership around by then to break in a new crew for his next wave of titles by about 2024 so things should dovetail nicely. |
