No fans in seats for 2020 LV

Just received the email. Seems this will most likely happen at every venue. Hope this whole pandemic will subside and everyone can stay healthy in the mean time.

“There is nothing more important to the Raider Organization than the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, stadium workers, and fans. After intensive consultation with healthcare officials and state and community leaders, We Have Made The Difficult Decision To Play The Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Inaugural Season At Allegiant Stadium Without Fans In Attendance. This decision is based on our commitment to protect the health of our fans and the entire community in response to the coronavirus pandemic affecting us all.”

Ruck the Faiders but man what a crappy break for the stadium investors and the locals.

They're indoors, correct? I believe the Chiefs are still planning on 25% capacity in Arrowhead.

Sucks for the Raiders that they're going to miss an entire season before the new wears off and people realize the Raiders aren't worth watching.

no-brainer

Its just a matter of time until all teams announce no fans in the stands.

Personally I’ve always wondered why so many stadiums that are retractable roof are never actually open. Hopefully going future this changes and those buildings play games with the roof open.

Miami is planning the same thing. As of right now our Arrowhead South group tickets are still good but they haven't got this thing under control. Schools opening are going to spike it. The it turns cold and it will spike. 2nd wave?

The best we can hope for is the NBA/NHL model. Real games being played as normal but no fans in the stands.

Not sure that it's been officially announced, but open stadium teams like the Eagles and Seahawks are said to not allow fans this year. I don't think it will be just an indoors stadium thing.

Seems that way to me as well. Football without fans will seem like a scrimmage. Like gladiators with no arena screaming at them.

Biggest factor is whether or not your state's governor is a Democrat. But even if they aren't, I think indoor venues probably have a steeper hill to climb. Outdoor at 25% capacity should be feasible.

At least the Raiders are used to playing in sparsely attended home games from their time in Oakland.

I’m Hopeful with the piped in crowd noise it will make it seem better. I was real skeptical about piped in crowd noise but baseball doing it has not turned out so bad. They are not over doing it. Just enough to keep it from being weird.

Eleazar 08-03-2020 01:48 PM

Raiders and Chargers will notice no real difference

the Premier League since the restart has been playing in front of no fans, and it's actually been fine. I was skeptical but the quality of the game is good and the fake crowd noise is actually better than the alternative. It has reduced home field advantage to almost nil, IIRC
