"Down Goes Frazier! Down Goes Frazier!!"

ESPNHD is showing Ali vs. Frazier (March 8 1971). Can't believe my luck.

They showed the first one Monday night I think it was.

Float like a butterfly baby

I recently watched all the Ali Vs. Frazier fights and the Hearns v Hagler ones on YouTube. Boxing was great back in the day.

Frazier was so good. Too bad he come along at the same era as Ali.

Shiver Me Timbers 10-07-2020 05:14 PM

I have that fight recorded along with Ali Foreman 74 Jungle fight in Zaire.
Boxing back in those days was really something to behold.

"Man, Ali was so damned good."

He is still "The Greatest." No debate. Ali in his prime is better than any heavyweight ever in theirs.

Spoiler alert, jeez!

Megatron96 10-07-2020 05:17 PM

Man, Frazier was a bad ass as well. Nasty body shots.

The man could stand there and take all you could throw at him, hardly ever went down.

EPodolak 10-07-2020 05:46 PM

Heh, didn't recognize Burt Lancaster was doing commentary. Puts in perspective how long ago this was.

Crazy how much punishment he could take and then come back as hard as he did. Even now, when he's obviously nearly gassed, he still finds the energy to come with a couple really hard punches after that patty-cake stuff.
