LNBS: next offseason and how it effects this offseason.
 

Andy and Veach always talk about the cap in a 3 year sliding scale. Next offseason, we have landlord (he will get extended before then), Nnadi, Fish and Schwartz as the only main free agents that we would consider impact players. We currently only have 146m in current cap commitments for the 2022 season and can clear tons of space on top of that through various means with Jones, Mahomes and Clark’s deals.

If Veach wants to go get a premium player (Corey Linsley and maybe another) that can be a bargain, don’t be too surprised to see him pull the trigger on some deals if the player is open to a creative pay schedule and Clark Hunt Oks some sizable up front checks.

I’m a little drunk so sorry for this intrusion but I gotta get this off my chest.

Matthieu is great. He’s awesome. I’m glad he’s a chief.

He’s not the landlord. That’s a stupid nickname as it is and besides... he’s already the honey badger. I know he wants to distance himself from that because that name is what he was in college, but nicknames don’t easily go away like that. And no matter how hard you push something, if people call you that name, that’s what you’re just stuck with. So you can be an uptight weirdo about it and keep trying to make landlord stick or you can just say, “I make millions of dollars and people want to call me the honey badger. Ok. I guess that’s what it is, then.”

Kobe tried to shove The Black Mamba down peoples’ throats for years. People didn’t like him that much. And now he’s dead. I’d hate for the same to happen to Matthieu.

Veach said about a week ago that Mathieu is priority #1 this offseason to get extended.

100 % on Honey Badger. I’ve never referred to him as anything but.

However, Black Mamba was absolutely Kobe’s nickname.

I think his point is that its not that good of a nickname. People dont shoot crumbled up paper in the trash can and say "Black Mamba!". They shoot that shit and say "KOBE!".

I throw orange cones around my work truck and holler “Kooo-Beeeeeee”.

Exactly my 7 year old has no idea who Kobe is and he throws toys across his room into his toy bins and yells it lol.

Clark's salary might be what the going rate is with the way the cap may rise. He may get extended, as unpopular as that may be right now

People just don't like things to change.

If Matthieu wants to be called The Landlord, I'll ****ing call him the Landlord. I don't care. I might also call him Honey Badger on occasion, just like I still call one of my daughter's friends by her given name sometimes even though she had it legally changed. Getting old is a bitch.

I think nicknames are stupid.
