Do you have stored away ?

A survival kit, something for a catastrophic event that could last for a week or two, maybe into a month.

Let's list the things one would need to have on hand, things maybe not listed on the basic survivor's list.

I don't have a damned thing and I'm in a major metro area.

If society collapsed, I would be truly ****ed.

Hand lotion, old nudie magazines and Kleenex tissues.

I think even if you had some kind of stores put away….you’d be ****ed. To many people and to much chaos in a concentrated area would do you in.

If society collapses, I'm not sure I really care to be around to experience the aftermath.

25 cases of bottled water, 8 weeks food supply, a couple month's food for my pets, 1000 ounces of silver, an FN 509 Tactical, and ten 50-round boxes of ammo. I'd consider that the bare minimum. If things go completely to shit, I've at least got a couple months to figure things out.

Yeah I have a bugout bag, its a Fox Tactical backpack

Tarp
Huge hank 550 cord
4 tent stakes
Sleeping bag
Fire kit with two flint steels and a 5 pack of Bics
Ziploc bag full of vaseline soaked cotton balls and a few tea candles
Sawyer mini water filter
Army canteen with fitted metal cup
Vietnam era mess kit
Fully stocked fishing kit
Fully stocked first aid kit
5 Mountain House freeze dried meals, with plenty of room for more food
Hatchet
Folding saw
Handheld flashlight and headband light with spare batteries for both
Bug spray
And one change of clothes, actually need to get in there and replace the summer clothes with something warm

And thats it, off the top of my head

Yep. Got a "bugout bag" for each of us, 1-3 months of food, depending on how much you eat each day, for 3 people, plenty of ammo and firearms. Emergency shelter, A.K.A. a tent, first aid kits, emergency water purification, A.K.A. pot to boil water......

That would last us long enough to get to our lake property on foot if we had too....

The bug spray made me laugh.

Deberg_1990 12-10-2021 11:46 AM

I got a shotgun, a rifle and a 4 wheel drive.

Hoover 12-10-2021 11:47 AM

I could probably make it a while.

Plenty of guns and ammo, we have ample food, but have some survival food buckets

If gas and electric was out, I'd just head home. My Dad have been waiting for that moment for decades now.

Agreed. Even when there’s a hurricane coming, which we know about a whole week prior to its arrival, the store shelves look barren and highways out of the city are jammed.

It wouldn’t matter what sort of disaster: domestic attack, civil war, weather cataclysm, zombie apocalypse.. I probably wouldn’t last long.

Agreed here as well. I’m pretty much all in on this civilization thing we’ve got going on. If it goes down, I’m most likely going down with it. At present, I think I’m OK with that.

Though I do wonder what sort of post-apocalyptic survivor I’d be. Would I be a part of the mass deaths in the first wave? Would I hang on for a few months before the marauders or disease caught me? Would I totally kick ass and become the new King of a rebuilt society?

Hopefully I never find out!

Camaro 12-10-2021 11:53 AM

1000 gallon water tank + well that I can use
500 gallon propane tank that I only use to fuel my 22kw generator
Enough ammo
Multiple freezers full of mostly meat.
A lot of canned food too.
Deer and elk in my yard everyday.. I think I could outlive a few.
