RIP P.J. O'Rourke
The Great Satirist, writer for National Lampoon and co-creator of the 1964 Keefauver HS Yearbook parody. He was a unicorn: a truly hilarious conservative pundit. A great writer. He'll be missed. Story: https://www.the-sun.com/news/4694538...-orourke-dead/

Phew.
I just watched Stripes and initially read this as P.J. Soles. Man she was just adorable. |
As an observer of government and public officials I think he was too clever for who's out there nowadays. A guy who really changed his spots over the years. RIP.

Loved P.J. O'Rourke. Great author, great wit.

A very unique individual. I remember as late teen early 20s guy reading some of his stuff and it took me years to appreciate him.
Very talented. |

RIP PJ
In 1970 my oldest brother had our mother pickup the what I believe was the first issue of NL at Thriftway grocery magazine isle. It became a request if the new issue was out get it for us. Soon mom said screw this and got us a subscription. I would laugh hysterically in my room. It started a subscription that last to the end when they published the last. So many funny writers thanks Doug Kenny and Henry Beard RIP CheesecakeLMAO https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...nuary_1973.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.../TeddyVWad.jpg http://rwinters.com/lampoon/NL043-Oct1973.jpg http://rwinters.com/lampoon/NL073-Apr1976.jpg |

The three magazines that I read from cover to cover each month as a teen were "National Lampoon", "Creem", and "High Times."
Guess that's why I turned out like I did... |
