James Palmer: Chiefs "working on keeping" Frank Clark
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Restructuring Frank Clark is obviously the plan. <a href="https://t.co/UJN8mT3IOo">https://t.co/UJN8mT3IOo</a></p>— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) <a href="https://twitter.com/JamesPalmerTV/status/1503414748028628994?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 14, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The Chiefs figured out an avenue in which the cap number with Clark makes more sense than the combined cap number of Clark's release and signing someone of his caliber. They took it to Clark earlier this month. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Looks like the logic is "we're paying for him either way, might as well have him on the team" at that same price.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">If the Chiefs get the restructure in to save the same amount as a release, idk how this would be anything other than a big win.<br><br>Still need to sign a DE1 - or trade or trade up and draft - but your DE2 spot improves and money is saved. <a href="https://t.co/D35ovye82Z">https://t.co/D35ovye82Z</a></p>— Matt Lane (@Matty_KCSN) <a href="https://twitter.com/Matty_KCSN/status/1503415515791962117?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 14, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The Chiefs trying to restructure Frank Clark isn't stunning. Maybe not ideal, but not a surprise. The dead money is huge, so might as well keep him at a lower hit if possible.</p>— Matt Verderame (@MattVerderame) <a href="https://twitter.com/MattVerderame/status/1503415949516591107?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 14, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

He's a waste of a roster spot at this point. |
We won’t take the cap hit and we could possibly free up about 12 milly.
|
I'm okay with keeping him and getting the savings. Draft a young guy and work him in. Bring in another free agent and have some solid depth.

I wonder what Veach & company see that everyone else doesn't... |
If Spags is banging the drum to keep Clark...then Spags can head out the door with him at this point.
|
Nooooooooooo! :banghead:
|
Frank Clark is not a good football player.
|
If they can bring him back at a cap hit less than his dead cap number, it makes sense financially.
Make no mistake, I would prefer he leave. But this isn't some sky is falling shit. It's not the end of the damn world. |
