Why did Miami do this deal?

Yes, most of us don’t care about other teams. But if you do, explain their rationale. It doesn’t make any sense on its face. You never say never in the NFL but does anyone think they can possibly win the division over Buffalo? Does anyone think this makes them better than NE?

1). BetUS moves Miami all the way up to 11th in the AFC, tied with Vegas at +3500 to win the SB. The Chiefs didn’t even budge, going from +800 to +850:

2). Vegas Insider puts them at 17th now to win SB:

This means they’re still a few slots away from even getting a WC road game. And they gave up a lot of draft capital and salary for the privilege. If Indy or Arizona or Dallas etc did this deal it makes sense.

Are they just desperate to make a splash?

I can't believe the money they're giving him

Gary Cooper 03-23-2022 02:23 PM

Good question. They're not a legit SB contender. They're #3 in their own division. Their QB has a history of injuries. It's a dumb trade to mortgage their future for a non-QB. They also just fired their coach and had controversy around that move.

And yes the contract they're paying him doesn't help them.

They've been a Mickey Mouse organization for a long time now.

It sucks losing Tyreek but it's hard to believe Miami won this trade. Maybe other AFC contenders won this trade. But not Miami.

BossChief 03-23-2022 02:23 PM

Because they have a QB that requires elite talent around him to have any chance at all of winning anything significant.

wazu 03-23-2022 02:24 PM

Best explanation I've heard is that the coach is from San Fran and wants Tyreek to be their Deebo Samuel.

They are at least trying to make a race out of it with this trade.

It’s the only way to try and overcome the difference between Tua and Allen.

100% this. They haven't won a playoff game in over 20 years.

Take a look at their most recent seasons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...lphins_seasons

They've been hovering between 6-10 and 10-6 damn near every season since the turn of the century. They're basically the kings of going 9-7/10-6 and missing the playoffs.

They've got a QB they're committed to and zero star power. Why not use that cap space on a guy like Hill who could potentially help develop their QB and bring the franchise its first playoff win since before the Patriots dynasty started? By the time Waddle's extension comes around, they should be able to get out from under Hill's contract if they need to.

ToxSocks 03-23-2022 02:29 PM

Because they have a QB on a rookie contract, and as we know, that's your best opportunity to strike. They're going all in on their your QB and hoping for the best, even if they have their doubts.

DrunkBassGuitar 03-23-2022 02:31 PM

I'm an idiot but my guess would be he's a star player who has made big plays for the Chiefs in the past so at the very least he's exciting to watch. You might not win your division but at least you'll get eyeballs and ad dollars and maybe sell a few tickets

Funny our counterparts in the West traded premium draft stock for expensive and elderly or going have to reach deep in their pockets to pay these guys they traded for. They may be tough to beat this year but after that they are going down the drain.

Meanwhile back at Kansas City doing complete opposite Chiefs got a Hershel Walker esk deal (of course not that many picks but still) While our adversaries just got older and lost draft picks Chiefs saved cap money and raped Dolphins for draft picks on a guy that is going cost them a lot more than he's worth and if he didn't want to stay here well~bye. It's better to do the deal now instead of him becoming a FA and leave anyways and we get nothing for him.

I think the Dolphins wanted a toy to bring in fans that's all to make it look like they tried and fans will want to see Tyreek Hill play. He will soon find out he isn't on a contenders team and he isn't making them a contender either.

I want to officially thank the Miami Dolphins for giving us prime draft picks and wish Tyreek best of luck. We won't have to worry about him in the playoffs.

I didn't think i'd be happy to trade Tyreek Hill but the opportunity we have to score big in the draft with a WR and revamp our Dline with pass rusher holly shit this could be the best trade in Chiefs history.

I think your right he is just fun to watch so they can put butts in seats. Good call on that one. He wont' be a threat to us in the playoffs because Dolphins wont make playoffs.
