Derek Carr gets paid (3-year contract extension worth $121.5M)
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Raiders?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Raiders</a> and star QB Derek Carr have agreed to terms on a 3-year contract extension worth $121.5M, source said. The agreement ties Carr to Las Vegas through the 2025 season. He is already the longest tenured QB in the AFC. </p>— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1514249450537029633?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 13, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

That's a lot of money for a QB that has never won a play-off game....

Already have a thread for this…..

Raiders probably have around $40 million in cap room next year after this move, maybe a little less after their draft class and any other FA. They also now have only 22 players under contract for 2023. That’s an incredibly top heavy team where the top isn’t that great aside from Adams. KC was in the same situation this year, but the difference is:
Mahomes >>>>>> Carr Reid >>>>> McDaniels KC plenty of draft picks > Raiders few draft picks |

I remember when people said the Chiefs were nuts for what they gave Mahomes. I knew it would eventually look like a bargain, but didn't think it would happen so quickly. It's already a steal.

I would rank the Chiefs substantially higher than the Raiders on my list of preferred National Football League teams

We can wait for guaranty details, but mahomes contract is looking better with each passing day

Is it the $500M number? Do they really think we overpaid this guy? Cause every single year opposing fans say we're in cap hell and every single year we prove them wrong and are in the playoffs. |
