I'm not sure what the Raiders have to gain here.

Not sure if the face palm is in agreement.

Kaepernick did compare the NFL to slavery yet wants so desperately to get back in.

Kape will probably wear a full-body suit plastered with Fidel Castro's face for his workout.

If Kaepernick is better than their third string quarterback, they have that to gain.

If giving the guy an opportunity to compete is a PR boost to counteract the hit they took over Gruden and Ruggs, (and maybe Davis, et al.) they have that to gain.

If they send the signal to the players on their team that they think differently than other franchises about matters of race, they have that to gain.

Frankly, I don’t know what the downside is at this point.

This happening the same day a judge blocked the NFL's motion to dismiss Gurdens lawsuit. Basically ugly shit will come out and the Raiders are doing this to save face. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders or another team sign him in an attempt to win the PR battle

Downside is having a toxic narcissist in a leadership position. And after all the PR disasters of recent Fade history, they’re playing with fire.
