Interestingly short contract, where he will be a free agent in 2024.

Honestly that's not too bad. The guy had a major issue with drops but he seemed to do better last year. Big Ben would feed this guy the ball over and over sometimes because he gets such good separation, go look at his target numbers. If he gets decent QB play he's going to put up some really good numbers. At his age and talent level they could really get more value out of that contract than some of the big money WRs.

a dude that helped me win a lot of money in fantasy last year.

What intrigues me is how lackluster I expect the QB situation in Pittsburgh to be over the next couple years, but maybe that rookie they nabbed will surprise me. Trubisky and Mason Ruldolph don't do much for me, so to me it all rests with Kenny Pickett and how he pans out.

Also, I think this is relevant to where the position is going and how this kind of contract can really hamstring an organization. I think we'll all be relieved that we did what we did with Tyreek after just a couple years, and how these teams like Miami and Pittsburgh and others are sending boatloads of money to these top receivers isn't going to do them much good without an above average quarterback tossing them the rock.

The value now is certainly in rookie contracts and, therefore, draft picks at the position.

If the NFL isn't careful, talented backs are going to be moving to WR in droves prior to college. Hell, it's probably already happening.

If you don't know who Diontae Johnson is, you aren't a fan of the NFL, just the Chiefs lol.

"PGM Gets Paid" sounds like a stellar thread title.

I said it before and I'll say it again. The NFL has a real problem with RBs facing higher incidences of CTE and debilitating injury than other positions and being among the lowest paid. Not to mention their careers tend to be shorter. Hell, these days if you tag a RB, isn't he getting paid less than a tagged G?

They need to put in a universal payment structure for these guys if they want to keep talent at the position. Teams offer contracts as normal, but they shave a few million off the cap from each team, and it gets distributed to RBs on a per carry basis. All the money goes into a big pot and gets doled out at the end of the season as a bonus-- it doesn't come directly out of a team's salary cap so that teams don't feel pressured to save a couple million per season by limiting the RB carries.

So now at least if you come out of college, get worked to death, and injuries take you out of the game before you can get a lucrative 2nd contract (all the more rare these days for the position) at least you're not walking away with only diddly squat 6th round rookie money and a lifetime of health problems. You got chewed up and used, but you're going to get paid for getting chewed up and used.

You're just miffed because despite your sources, you're not getting these kind of scoops.

No QB to pay and only 2 years. Pretty good deal considering isn't a long term cap killer even though haven't seen the breakdown yet.

Seems like a good move for both sides under the circumstances, with the Steelers in transition.

I'm in Pittsburg for work and bumped into him at the Giant Eagle supermarket, and he told me he only wanted a two year deal so that he could get to KC and play with Mahomes.
