Since I suck at image sharing, I'll just wish y'all a happy Veterans Day. :)

I suck at posting pictures too, so I'll just say it.

We love the patriotic pictures of the flag and such, but when you thank veterans, please post pictures that convey a better picture of what military service means. Serving often means you're dirty, tired, and hungry. Serving means sacrificing your own comfort for the greater good. Serving means you will have to tolerate privation.

For those more talented at posting pictures, please post pictures of US Marines sleeping in the road. Post pictures of men serving in combat zones that are dirty and tired. We love the patriotic pictures, but if you want to thank us, please recognize what it is we tolerated in our service.

I never served. Hearing was too bad.

I worked for the military for about 10 years. Worked with some of the bravest, strongest men this country ever created. Despite that 5 of them over my time working alongside them left their shift, went home and killed themselves.

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary on that day. We knew most were given this job working with us to help them recover from the wounds of war. So they didn't die in the war but the war still killed them. We shouldn't forget those vets either. I know I'll always remember.

Bless them all, whatever their job.
My son retires from the Air Force after 20 years in February. He and his daughter will be here tomorrow deer hunting in the woods out back.
I’m so proud of him and what he’s become.

About 20 years ago, McCormick and Schmicks was the only place I knew to get a comp meal on Veteran's Day. Maybe Golden Corral.

Now you can go crazy getting comp meals and services if you feel like it.

Friday is a great day for Veteran's Day to land on.

My nephew is stationed in Europe and will be going to Bucs Seahawks game in Munich Sunday. Not sure if his tickets were connected to his service or not, but I think NFL set something up for better pricing for active duty.
