Willis Reed dead at 80
For ANYONE who grew up in the 70's watching the NBA, you KNEW who Willis Reed of the Knicks was.
The Knicks team of Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Bill Bradley and Dave DeBusschere was LEGEND. I got to meet several of these guys IRL and went to the Garden in NY many times to see games against the Bullets back in the day. RIP to a real cool due. o:-) |

This is why I don't attend rap concerts. RIP |
Defined toughness unlike today’s country club NBA.

This man was a legend in real basketball. Pay respect when respect is due. He played head to head against Wilt chamberlain and Bill Russel.

Bunch of dipshits on this board.

I have no way of proving this, but when I was a little kid I read a book that had short football player biographies, and it mentioned that Chiefs legend Otis Taylor once faced up against Willis Reed in a college basketball game and they scored the same number of points.
At least, I think it was Willis Reed. It was one of those legendary basketball players from that era. |
Ha. I just found an old SI article that proves it. I almost even said that it was a 13-13 scoring tie, and I didn't. I would have dumbfounded you all with my memory if I had said that.
