I've got a construction zone on the street outside my subdivision that's been there for well over two years now. Their mission? Expanding a 3/4 mile stretch of road from two lanes to four. That's it. Apparently the plan was to finish the south side in year one and the north side in year two, but then the concrete union went on strike halfway through year two and basically ended their work. That was resolved late last summer, but the damage was done and jobs all over the area stalled. But again, it's a 3/4 mile stretch of road. Why the **** didn't they finish it in the first year? What a complete boondoggle, and where I live and where I work is right in the middle of it, along with a NAPA distribution center, an O'Reilly distribution center, an Amazon distribution center and an industrial area. During the day there are semis everywhere. What a pain in the ass.
So basically it looks like it's been about two weeks from completion since last August, and whenever I drive through it looks just like that picture - one guy working and half a dozen standing around watching him. I get the feeling that they're going to milk it for another full season, and of course it's my tax dollars paying for it. It's absolutely maddening. ****ers could have built a road from here to Iowa if they actually worked.
Maybe if these guys actually worked more and ****ed off less they'd get hit by cars far less frequently. They sure as hell don't seen to give a shit about the people whose lives they're disrupting. And frankly, I don't really give a shit about them.
