25 Years Ago Tonight...

On this day in Kansas City sports history, on October 4th in 1998, which was 25 years ago today, rain was coming down in droves for the Sunday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks. The night was highlighted by a 80-yard TD pass from QB Rich Gannon to WR Andre Rison in the 3rd quarter, putting the game out of reach and sealed the rain-soaked victory for the Chiefs 17-6. |
i remember watching this game on TV. Waterfalls down the steps on the stadium. Back when Defense was king in the Kingdom (DT58!!!!), and the offense was . . . mercurial. I remember thinking the deluge would blunt the SeaChickens offense, and give KC a better than even chance of taking the W.
Lol, good times. |
Was there!
Never have I seen so much rain at a sporting event...Never in my life, up to that point, had I ever seen so much rain in one spot, period...That changed with Hurricane Harvey, but it took a damn hurricane to top the rain that night. |
I was there and I am still drying off.

What an epic game.
Back when the Seabags were division rivals, which honestly was weird. |
Ironically that was actually the calm before the storm as the Chiefs were destroyed by New England the following week which started the six game losing streak.

Man, MY FAVORITE Chiefs player EVER! Of course I love the OBVIOUS, Mahomes, Kelce, Charles, Priest, etc, etc BUT DAMN! HE WAS INCREDIBLE! I so remember this game. I have 2 sigs of his - a FB card and a JSA Cert signed mini helmet. So very PROUD to be a CHIEFS fan! :thumb:

My buddy texted me earlier asking if I remembered where I was 25 years ago today. I thought about the timeframe (I was in college) and the time of year, and I guessed Chiefs game. Then figured, if it was a big anniversary, it had to be the rain game. That was a top 5 Arrowhead experience for me.
