Some perspective

So the Chiefs have been good for 10 years. Andy has been here that long and they've just been a real consistent good team in the NFL. Averaged 12 wins a year since Andy has been here.

Then they get Mahomes and are averaging 13 or so. They've turned over the roster and built an elite offense, turned over the roster and built an elite defense and are still winning.

In a league built to....not let that happen. Look around at teams that are good. Usually they have a 3ish year run, top out, then start losing talent and end up going back down into missing the playoffs and kinda start over. Usually there's a window, look at the Bills, etc.

This group just keeps winning games. Every year.

I get we want the offense to be better. I'm sure they do as well. But damn guys.....we're kinda in the golden age here. They're gonna end up winning 14 games this year. We'll bitch and moan our way to hosting another AFCCG at the Head.

The Ravens are maintaining something...not sure what

RunKC 11-06-2023 08:13 AM

Thank God we traded Tyreek to build a top flight defense. They're gonna use Chris Jones to do the same to fix the offense.

We have the coaching. We just need the flexibility to turn the roster and keep it full of competitive quality players

Bl00dyBizkitz 11-06-2023 08:13 AM

I'm sorry sir but I refuse to be happy in any way about the Chiefs.

I would rather complain that our team isn't perfect than enjoy the fact we're winning because that's just how much of a miserable little **** I am.

I will sit on this website and bitch and moan till the day I die because I have no other coping mechanisms and nothing else better to do with my time.

O.city 11-06-2023 08:15 AM

It's a yearly thing these days too, we hear "there are no elite teams".

Well no shit. There probably hasn't been since what......the 90's?

The league is setup this way.

They could have kept him and got it done, but it's probably the smart thing to do.

I've come around to it with Jones too. Old and expensive just doesn't work more times than not in the league.

kccrow 11-06-2023 08:20 AM

Yep.

It's a long season. New players have to gel together, young players have to grow. I have faith that Reid will have the offense clicking by playoffs.

It's (so far) been a bit of a carbon copy of last years secondary.

Some good games here and there, some shit here and there.

Just be clicking in December and January.

I don't think they have a choice unfortunately.

Tranquil, Edwards, Sneed, Danna, Gay and Chris are all FA's this spring. Omenihu is also in a contract year next year.

You may be able to get Edwards back but the rest are likely gone and Omenihu would be after next year bc of a $30 million anchor. You also only have 5 draft picks.

Trading Chris probably means you can keep Edwards, Tranquill, extend Omenihu and have other picks to use on a WR and CB/DL.

Just makes too much sense

This is the problem with "elite" defenses in today's NFL. They're too hard to keep together.

Tranquil signed a 1 year deal. Maybe do that again, same with Edwards.

The others are all gone. It's the way of the league, so they'll tag and trade and try to keep what they can. But it won't be kept together.

O.city 11-06-2023 08:46 AM

FAU steps in for Omenihu, you let him walk. He's gonna wanna get a bigger payday.

Usually when fans are frustrated groups of people call for the heads of the front office or Reid, or demand benching superstars. Even GOATs like Andy. We haven't seen anything close to that. So I think most people for the most part recognize we have it really good. From there it's drawing the line between what's way too critical and what is acting like everyone is totally beyond reproach

Well, honestly....at this point they probably should be.

If they haven't done enough at this point for you to put them beyond criticism 9 games into the year, that seems like a you problem.

how many fanbases would trade their team to have a team where the biggest issue is the Mahomes led offense. Like yeah obviously WR play could and likely will be better but we're still the favorites to win the SB, after winning two. we're incredibly fortunate to be witnessing this.

wazu 11-06-2023 09:46 AM

I've tried to just stop even bitching about the things that drive me nuts (Mecole Hardman being a Chief, play calling on 3rd and 1, Dave Toub, etc.) Because the overall result is so amazing and wonderful that at some point we just have to look at it and bask in how awesome it all is.

Really want one more Superbowl. I think that locks this team in as a full-blown NFL dynasty that will be remembered decades from now. Even without that it's been great and the most prolonged period of fun as a fan I've ever had.
