Couch-Potatoes Max Cap Mock
MOCK OFFSEASON
I'm operating under the assumption that we win the SB. I'm going to max out all of our cap capabilities in order to keep the band together (likely unrealistic) and look to add some young playmakers. I'm a die hard homer who's cap space optimism is apparent. This is just for fun. Do we really have this many draft picks? |
Edited to let RT D. Smith go and pick up WR M Brown. I'll let Niang, Morris, Guyton, & Nelson compete for RT and push Taylor for LT.
Watch that highlight of Guyton, he's crazy fast and would make a great swing tackle. Brown is our new Hill, R. Rice is our new JuJu, Legette is our DK Metcalf, B. Rice is our new MVS, Wright is our new McKinnon. |
3 rookie WRs is overkill. They'll never see the field.

Even with x3 rookie WRs and no FA WRs, we'd still have Rice, Watson, & Toney from the previous year's core so it's really all upside from there. I'm leaning on Legette's plus physical traits and Rice's pedigree to produce more than the typical Reid rookie WR. |
I also like...
1st-RD Keon Coleman, FSU, 6-4, 215, 4.45 Emeka Egbuka, OH ST, 6-1, 205, 4.3 Adonai Mitchell, TX, 6-4, 195, 4.5 Troy Franklin, ORG, 6-3, 185, 4.35 Brian Thomas, LSU, 6-4, 205, 4.47 3rd-RD Johnny Wilson, FSU, 6-7, 235, 4.42 Ja'Lynn Polk, WAS, 6-2, 205, 4.48 Tre Harris, HOU, 6-2, 205, 4.4 Tory Horton, CO-ST, 6-2, 190, 4.45 So many WRs in this draft someone has to fall to us. |
Good work!
I'd let Blake Bell walk, and possibly Willie Gay. I'd also like to see us get 2 WR's (Evans/Brown? Higgins/Ridley?) in FA + a 1st rounder, and the money from Gay would help with that. That would also open our 2nd or 3rd rounder to use on an OT. If Sneed prices himself out of staying with us, we keep Gay and still do the same above. |
Do we have that many draft picks?

Primary point is to push back on the "we don't have enough to sign our own" mantra and remind fellow fans we can turn around the WR room in a single offseason. Truth is that there are 100 other more creative ways to distribute those contracts that results in the same that I'm not savvy enough to be familiar with, but I'm pretty sure Brett Veach is. |

Is this incorrect? |

That 7th is unlikely to transfer. I don't think it will. We also will have a 5th-round comp pick for Wylie. Trading for Hardman ****ed us out of getting another 5th rounder. So... 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. (f/DAL) 5. (comp) 7. |
I like the ideas here but I don't want anything to do with Legette in round 1. I won't bitch, necessarily, if that were the way Veach went but I've said before I'm extremely concerned about him lacking any real production before year 5 in the same system and position that saw Antwane Wells Jr step right in after transferring from James Madison and produce. Wells getting hurt is the only real reason Legette became the primary, and really only, target in the offense. They are force-feeding him balls which is also inflating his stats.
I don't know that Veach will go for a guy as big as Sweat. Tyliek Williams or Nazir Stackhouse seem more like fits at around 320. I do think you have Guyton 2 rounds too low. I really like the idea of Rice in round 3, and maybe even 2. Anyhow, overall I really think it's solid. |

But I'd prefer to be a contender for the Super Bowl EVERY year. |
There are other WRs that are more of a sure thing, but in this mock I'm trying to break the mold in KC. We always seem to pursue the T Locket type, but instead here we nab our DK Metcalf. My fear would be that Legette's more Trey Burks than DK Metcalf. I want guys with big play potential because we tend to spread the ball around. DK went #64 so I could honestly see my picks #1 & #2 swapped. Legette's yards this season are approx. equal to DK's entire college career.
Sweat is huge! How are you going to double Sweat, Jones, AND Omenihu? lol I see him as the NT fans have been looking to add to this DL the last couple seasons. I agree, Guyton and Rice might be 2nd rounders, but I also think Nelson, Simpson, and Wright could go higher than they're currently projected on Draftbuzz.com. What's with Wright? 7.4 yards AVG, but not listed anywhere as a top back in this class? Is TEN's offense really that foreign to NFL offenses? |

We definitely don't have a 6th? |
