The Early Years Tournament: Round 2, Heat 3.

This heat features wins over two teams from northern divisions in cities that feature a lot of crack cocaine. Which do you prefer?

2018 - Week 14 - W 27-24 over BAL
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...1812090kan.htm
Chiefs 10-2 / Ravens 7-5

At 4:40 of the highlights, check out the great Tyreek non-scoring play. Speed kills. And speaking of Tyreek, this game is most notable due to a 4th and 9 play with 1:20 left in the game, down 7, do or die, and you know the rest. One of the greatest regular season plays in Chiefs history took place. Damien Williams scored with 53 seconds left to tie it up, and then Justin Houston made a great strip sack and recovery with a few seconds left ... but we missed the field goal as time expired! We pushed the ball downfield on a long overtime drive, with Eric Fisher making a key fumble recovery on a fluke Mahomes fumble (13:10 of the highlights), and Butker atoned for 2 missed field goals by kicking one to take the lead. The defense then made a dramatic stand on the other team's last-gasp drive with a sack by Houston and Ford that put Lamar Jackson out of the game and a couple of great pass breakups by Orlando Scandrick and Kendall Fuller. In the end, the defense held Jackson to only 147 passing yards while Mahomes went for 377. The leading yardage guys were Tyreek (145) and Spencer Ware (129).

2019 - Week 4 - W 34-30 over DET

Chiefs 3-0 / Lions 2-0-1

Is it possible to enjoy a game where Mahomes doesn't throw a touchdown pass? Where our leading yards from scrimmage guy was Lesean McCoy? Where the Chiefs had four fumbles and lost three of them? I contend yes, when you get to see Bashaud Breeland dig a fumble out of the pile and return it 100 yards for a touchdown while everyone else looks confused and also get a Mahomes two-minute drill to win the game. Four sacks by the defense (Jones with a guard-embarrassing sack, Okafar, Mathieu, and Nnadi) and 300+ Mahomes yards (aided by a great Kelce lateral to McCoy) knocked the wind out of touted Lions' sails and completely destroyed their season going forward. This game was also notable by Mahomes' patented glance back to the ref before running for a long gain.

Both of these games had some amazing plays. The Breeland fumble return has got to be a top-50 play in Chiefs history, and certainly a top-25 defensive play.

But back before Tyreek was jealous of Travis, he made some great plays, and the Ravens 4th down play put us on the map for good.

Gotta go Ravens here.

Baltimore. No doubt.

That 4th and 9 is my favorite Mahomes play so far. There’s like maybe 3-4 total players in history who could pull that play off.

Detroit game was fun but I’m going with the game against Baltimore

The Detroit game is fun in retrospect, but I remember being pretty stressed during that game. It looked like we might actually lose to the Lions, and that would have been embarrassing, even though they were getting a lot of hype at the time.
