Buc-ee's Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The much-anticipated opening of Buc-ee’s in Springfield on Monday could lead to traffic congestion on I-44.

The store is at 3284 N. Beaver Road, off of I-44. The doors open at 6 a.m. The travel center is 53,000 square feet. It offers 120 fueling positions. Buc-ee’s is known for its clean restrooms, fresh food, and friendly beaver mascot. The Texas-based travel center attracts tourists from all over to experience its food, snacks, and merchandise extravagance.

Josh Smith is an operations director at Buc-ee’s. He is anticipating travelers from all over the state and even surrounding states since this is the first location in Missouri. However, Smith said traffic congestion is not a huge concern for them.

“We have an expansive parking lot. We have a great traffic circle. We should be able to provide all the traffic assistance that we need. We will also have the local law enforcement here to help us out,” Smith said. “So if anything gets caught up, then they’ll be there to help, but we don’t expect any traffic issues for opening day.”

They really are not anything special. It’s like a Walmart of truck stops. I’m sure it’s nice for truckers to have big stops where you can get everything you need in one stop, but I rarely go to a gas station for anything other than gas or to take a piss and grab a quick drink on a long drive. Wawa’s have better gas station food than QT’s or Bucees in my opinion. Nothing beats a Casey’s pizza though.

Their coffee is the best. It's like the next best thing to cocaine.

Finally, one-stop shopping for $100 lunches and hookers.

What came to my mind filling up there a couple times is that it's like filling up at a Costco, which isn't terribly efficient unless you're already shopping there (and neither even had windshield cleaner stuff).

And yeah, seems nice for truckers I guess, but an unnecessary madhouse for anyone who wants to fill up and maybe take a leak or grab a snack.

I had QT breakfast pizza a few weeks back and it was pretty damn good, but think it was a one off and not a consistent thing like Casey's.

I can't remember the last time I actually went inside a gas station. That's a road trip only thing for me.

KwikTrip/KwikStar is pretty good

Ironically, 18-wheelers aren't allowed.

It’s not a truck stop at all, in fact the ones i’ve been to actually have signs saying no trucks allowed in the parking lot.

Hillbilly ass shit.

Buc-ees has competition. Wally's is planning to open several locations around KC. The first being at I-70 and Noland Rd.

Same theme. Huge store with 80 to 100 gas pumps.

That’s crazy. I’ve never noticed that. Why would you have that large of a gas station and not include the main customers for gas stations. It has to be a coverup business for something if that’s the case. Some sort of breaking bad los pollos thing.

How sad it is that there's an implication you aren't going to find clean restroom unless it's inside a highly dense general goods merchant attached to a gigantically scaled gas station.
