Golden Anniversary Ideas

The wife has put up with me for 41.5 years now and I want to do something special for our golden anniversary, but being the typical male that I am have nearly no imagination as to what are the best 5 star vacation spots in the US. Yeah I could do a google search but I want to hear from anyone here who have personal experience with such places.

Help a fellow Chiefs fan out???

Wait. Golden anniversary is year 50. You want an 8.5 year head start to plan?

That is a great question. Here recently we are huge fans of Christian theatrical shows like what is shown in Sight and Sound Theaters. I really just let her kind of direct our activities because I seriously just like being with her. She loves rustic settings and luxury accommodations/amenities. Site seeing nature settings, and shops OH my, she loves shops. Of course most of these things we experience in Branson, but I want to take her somewhere new and maybe have some new experiences.

Fiji or Bora Bora are pretty damn nice.

Japan is the cheapest it has been in years.

River cruise on a barge in Europe is very nice. Small crowds, mature and rarely kids.

Hey, go big or stay home. I want to start saving a little at a time.

I like the sound of all of those and so would she. At this time I was really just looking to stay within the US, but I could broaden that horizon.

If you otherwise haven't traveled outside of the US much, river cruises might be a cool way to feel like you've seen some variety in Europe. They're often all inclusive, so you know exactly what you're paying. And you get to see a ton of stuff.

The downside is it's not a super organic way of seeing a country - you're largely just hitting the touristy spots - but it's a pretty stress free way to see some pretty cool stuff.
