AFC playoff picture - What do you want to see happen in the next 3 weeks?

A lot can still happen in these last few weeks. What I'd like to see happen:

Chiefs secure the #1 seed by beating Texans and Steelers (Buffalo aren't losing at home to the Patriots).

Buffalo win out and are #2 seed.

Steelers lose to the Ravens this weekend and then lose to the Chiefs on Christmas day. They also lose their final game. Ravens end up as the #3 seed after winning their remaining 3 fixtures. Steelers are the #6 seed.

Texans secure #4 seed on the basis that they are the least shit team in their division.

Chargers beat the Broncos next week and win their last 2 against the Patriots and Raiders. They are #5 seed.

Broncos lose against the Chargers. They then lose against the Bengals. And finally they lose against a Chiefs team full of back up players on the last day of the year. They are eliminated at home by the Carson Wentz led Chiefs.

Bengals win all 3 of their remaining games against the Browns, Broncos and Steelers. They sneak in as the #7 seed.

AFC table finishes like this:

1. Kansas City Chiefs (16-1)
2. Buffalo Bills (14-3)
3. Baltimore Ravens (12-5)
4. Houston Texans (10-7)
5. LA Chargers (11-6)
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7)
7. Cincinnati Bengals (9-8)

8. Denver Broncos (9-8) - Bengals have the head to head.

Wildcard matches:

Bengals @ Bills: These 2 teams to knock 7 shades of shit out of eachother.

Steelers @ Ravens: See above '7 shades of shit' comment.

Chargers @ Texans: Two no hopers who the Chiefs will likely have to face in the Divisional round.

This sound good to y'all? It could happen..

As nice as the double bye would be, there’s some benefit in losing to either the Steelers OR Texans.

The Bills would probably play their starters in Week 18. If we beat the Broncos, then they basically take on another game with no benefit.

If we wrap up the 1 seed after the Steelers game, the Bills are for sure resting starters in Week 18.

Week 18 being meaningless is still the preference.

The only thing I want to see is the Chiefs hold on to the # 1 seed... I don't care about any other playoff scenario involving any other team.

That's a good point. In my scenario if the Bills lose to either the Patriots or the Jets in the next 2 game days then they would have to play their starters in week 18 to secure the #2 seed because Baltimore have the head-to-head on them.

If I’m Buffalo, I don’t care too much about the 2/3.

With their remaining schedule, I have a hard time seeing them not winning a minimum of 13 games.

I’d rather take the bye in Week 18 than secure the 2 over the 3.

If the 1 is still a possibility, you have to go for it. The Broncos are good enough for that to be feasible (though they may well be resting starters).

Chiefs beat Texans and Steelers. Don't care about anything else.

All I care about is that we get the most possible rest (ideally Week 18 + Wild Card), and that we are healthy for that divisional round game. The rest I will just kick my feet up and enjoy. This year is a unicorn with us getting this late gauntlet and the early BYE. We need the few weeks off IMO to find that energy that will be needed to finish the job.

to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their announcers!

Ideally the Chiefs would win this week, the Bills would lose, and extended rest could happen. The only thing I really care about is getting HFA locked up ASAP.

Win the next 2 games. Jv squad plays at Denver.

1st round bye.

I cant find any reason that people would care about anything but that.

FloridaMan88 12-18-2024 12:39 PM

Obviously get the #1 seed… and then hopefully the seeding plays out so the Chiefs wouldn’t have to play both Baltimore and Buffalo in the playoffs.

Thats the dream but is so unlikely to hardly be worth thinking about. So the next best is us beating the Steelers also and having 3.5 weeks before our next game.

As for seeding, as much as I would enjoy the Bills getting stuck with the Bengals, I’m not sure I’d love playing the Bengals in the divisional. I think the Bills would destroy the Broncos but any of the Ravens, Steelers, or Chargers could give them trouble. So that’s my other main concern, is not letting the Bills get the Broncos in round one.

O.city 12-18-2024 12:47 PM

Nah, don't want the Bengals in there.

Let the Ravens and the Bills fight it out on one side.

Bengals are not making the playoffs. They have a 7% chance to make it even if they win this weekend.
