When free agency begins, the Chiefs will target Ronnie Stanley, the nine-year veteran who is the best left tackle available on the market, according to sources. Stanley, who will turn 31 this month, started all 17 season games last season for the Baltimore Ravens. He earned a 70.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus and allowed just three sacks.

Unfortunately for us, Rickey says he won't be available.

That was before some random, untraceable "source" let the media know that the Chiefs are all-in on him. NOT TAMPERING!

Nate Taylor isn't exactly a great source.

ThrobProng 03-05-2025 02:23 PM

Just how good is Stanley? When he went down with a 2-year ankle injury, fat OBJ stepped in and looked like a world beater.

Neither is Rickey, but all indications is that Baltimore was going to do everything possible to keep Stanley.

This isn't exactly news.

People need to brace the most likely options here are Tyron Smith and DJ Humphries.

Upside if it's one of them Bolton and Reid may both be back.

I’d say he’s good when healthy, there’s a reason OBJ didn’t stick at LT. Also, easier to look good at LT in that offense.

Question is if he can stay healthy, need a strong backup option and we don’t have Thuney any longer as a viable backup.

This smacks of the Trent Williams pursuit. Lot of pressure on Veach to land the plane.

100% correct. He throws a bunch of haphazardly comments out there to see if any hit. He has no real insight on what KC intends to do.

Ya, I'd rather go another way. All I can see is this:

One full healthy season in nine years.

Exactly.

By all reports, Baltimore is looking at $21-23M a season to keep Stanley.

New England is DEFINITELY going higher than that, they have more money than they can reasonably spend.

If Veach spends $25M+ a season on Stanley, this team is gonna have some holes - unless Clark is willing to cut a $50M check to convert signing bonuses for Mahomes, CJ and Kelce.

And even after all that, paying a draft class - there are still gonna be some question marks.
