Places to eat around Westport?

Anybody been here recently? Have a friend in town with his family. They are staying in Westport and we're trying to decide on a place to eat and hang out. I don't think I've been to that area in 15+ years. Not even sure if it's a decent area anymore. They have a couple of kids age 10+ and were hoping to find a Hibachi Japanese steakhouse type of place for some fun. It doesn't look like there is anything like that in the area. Any other places that people like in the area that we should consider? Or even a hibachi experience somewhere that isn't too far of a travel? Thanks in advance.

It’s still a fine area. As a family with young kids, they may not enjoy a late evening there. Lots of bars that get filled up quickly. Nothing really Hibachi like as far as I know. But, for restaurants, I love the Beer Kitchen and Westport Cafe.

I’ve always liked Cupini’s.

1809 Westport Rd
Kansas City, MO 64111

It’s Italian and pretty good.

Westport cafe. Delicious. Brunch is spectacular.

Billay tried to get me to go to some place called Buddies around that area.

Anyone ever been? Sounds like a good place to make guy friends.

Go to Snooze then meet Titty at the John Calvin McCoy statue for dessert.

Charbar is good for a group. They have outdoor seating with several cornhole setups.

Rudy's Tenampa Taqueria is good Mexican food.

Q39 for some rich folks BBQ.

Cupini's is really good Italian.

Taj Palace has a good Indian buffet.

Despite what anyone tells you, the burgers at The Fleamarket aren't that good.

Also it's a few minutes from Westport, but Lula's Southern Cookhouse is a true gem. The best Chicken and Waffle you will ever consume. There's about 20 things I need to go back and eat, including the fried green tomatoes.

Dude, I absolutely love this place. For the life of me, I can’t understand why they only have 4.2 stars on google. I’ve been there no less than five times and it was awesome Every. Single. Time.

Thanks, all. A lot of great recommendations that I'm adding to my list to explore. The group ended up going with "Double Tap" in River Market so the kids can play VR. Oh well, I tried! Thanks again.
