Zone 1 Out: Britain

No enemy

Zone 2 Out: English Channel

slayer Diablo fires, misses
dant fires, misses

Me misses, breaks off attack

Entering Bomb Zone
Good Weather
Medium Flak – 2 hits
-superficial damage to nose

The second flak hit is a bad one. Remember Deep Red?

The 88-mm flak shell scores a direct hit on the tail of the plane and explodes. Valiant is KIA instantly, blown to bits in the huge explosion. The horizontal stabilizers of Tequila Rose are blown off, which causes the airplane to instantly nose up and stall. Turning a backwards somersault, the plane dives straight toward the ground, levels out instantly, then turns another backwards somersault and repeats the process. The g forces pin the crew into place, and only luck will let them escape.

Pilot Rausch (4) is thrown out of the plane at 14,000 feet and somehow gets his parachute deployed. Dazed and semi-conscious, he hits the ground hard and lies there until the German observers come and pick him up. Rausch finally gets to visit his homeland.

Copilot donger (3) is conscious, but is trapped in the plane and rides it to the ground and a KIA.

Bombardier milkman (4) is thrown from the plane conscious at 3,000 feet as the plane breaks up, but his parachute is damaged. He dies on ground impact.

Navigator FloridaChief (4) is thrown from the plane at 2,000 feet as the plane breaks up, but is unconscious at the time. He never gets to deploy his chute.

Engineer DanT (4) is thrown from the plane at 9,000 feet, but is unconscious at the time. He never gets to deploy his chute.

Radio Op. FringeNC (4) is conscious, but is trapped in the plane and rides it to the ground and a KIA

Tail Gunner Valiant (4) was KIA in the initial hit.

Ball Turret Gunner jettio (4) is thrown from the plane at 25,000 feet, but didn’t have a parachute. He hits the ground and is KIA immediately.

Right Waist Gunner kcnut (3) is seriously injured in the initial explosion, and rides the plane down unconscious. Another KIA.

Left Waist Gunner Slayer Diablo (3) is seriously injured in the initial explosion, and rides the plane down unconscious. Yet another KIA.

No bomb run

Aftereffects

None – The Tequila Rose enters the realm of history.

Eligible for next mission

None.

RIP to the noble crew of Tequila Rose.

Zone 3 Out: France (Entering Target Zone)

Entering Bomb Zone
Good Weather
Light Flak – 4 hits (that’s bad luck)
-superficial damage to starboard wing
-superficial damage to port wing
-port wing – landing gear brakes are knocked out
-superficial damage to starboard wing

Maybe the flak buffeting was what gobo needed, because he nails the bomb run – 40% score

Zone 3 Back: France (Leaving Target Zone)

2 Me109s, 1 Me110 attack – 1 Me109 and 1 Me110 are driven off by fighters

munkey fires, kills Me109
gobo fires, misses
thefly fires, misses

Zone 2: English Channel

No enemy

Zone 1: England

Good weather
Unaware that the brakes are inoperable, kcwolfman sets down lightly, gently brakes, and Red, White, and Blew by You veers sharply to the right, bouncing off the runway, across the open space, and across another runway. Right waist gunner cdcox gets a splendid view of another B-17 barreling straight toward it on its own landing run, but fortunately the other B-17 is three seconds further up the runway. Kcwolfman alertly realizes that applying the brakes again will cause the plane to tip and roll, so he just steers and the plane bumps to a stop out in a clearing, none the worse for the wear.

Aftereffects

None

Eligible for next mission

Is it bad that I read this and thought, "Well, I guess there is no reason to cry over spilled milk"?

Wow. Nothing like a little carnage for breakfast.

The crew of El Duderino are feeling a little restless after witnessing that.

First reports that came back were that Pilot Rausch had gone on a drinking binge again and was doing vertical loops over the target area. Too bad that wasn't the case.

Three observations:

1) gobo finally hits something. Red, White and Blew by You is finally off the snide!

2) scrolling down the screen, I saw good weather and exhaled that the mission was over and a success. Then the excitement began. Luckily we all survived.

3) I love the smell of napalm in the morning (oops, wrong war)

Man, Slayer, that's two dates w/ Diablo already. Are you two getting serious?

RealSNR 02-11-2004 04:03 PM

I am indeed nervous. This is what, the 3rd plane completely destroyed?

JimNasium 02-11-2004 04:43 PM

Alright, we actually hit something!

Hey, Rainman, can I fly a fighter on my days off? I'm bored.
