How can the coaches not go for it on fourth and 1 before the half?

That was absolutely one of the worst calls I've seen DV make since he's been to KC. Hell even Marty would have at least tried to draw the defense offsides. Priest could have easily gotten that first down and kept the drive alive but why do that when you can try for a field goal with a rookie kicker? It seems like almost every part of this team is going to fall apart and every week things are just going to get worse.

That was really a blunder. I'd guess Priest gets that yard 80+% of the time. I'd be surprised if Tynes makes that FG more than 60% of the time. Really stupid.

Vermiel did admit in his post game conference that he should have gone for it. No doubt....

yeah, Dick said he'd be more aggressive from now on.

Yeah I was hollering at Vermeil for that one. I can't believe they didn't go for it. They could have easily picked up the first and gotten at least 10 more yds on subsequent downs. Which would have been money for Tynes. They could have at least taken a few shots at the endzone.

I have been disappointed in the play calling and decision making.

I didn't mind the FG try until Dick called the timeout. Dam near gave Carolina points after the miss. Either let the clock run down or go for it but don't call a timeout and try the FG.:banghead:

Play calling sucked most of the day....First and goal from the one and we don't hand off to Priest, almost threw an interception, and finally figured it out...Geesshh...What a disappointing game...

Seems we have heard this before from Vermail. One of these days hopefully he'll go for it... :hmmm:

just punt and let the D do its work

jcroft 09-19-2004 07:25 PM

If that's a 35-yarder or less, then you take the points. But trying a 47-yarder with a kicker that is still pretty much of an unknown as far reliability goes instead of going for it on 4th and 1 with the best back in the league is just absurd.

Maas was saying, "you take the for-sure points." Since when is a 47-yarder "for-sure points" for ANY kicker?

The fans knew we should have gone for it... Everybody knew. How could DV not know? What was there to lose at 4th and 1 just before the half?

How many effing times have we heard it? Do people actually listen to DV interviews any longer? I've stopped. I can't take it - I think I'd rather watch politicians debate.
