Who was it that said, "Those who don't learn from their mistakes...
are destined to repeat them."
Was that Churchill? Well, that goes directly to Carl and company. They did the same thing in the 95 offseason (stand pat) and look what happened in 96. They thought that the success in 95 would drag over to 96. Nope. With free agency, even if you keep the same players, someone is getting better because they are adding more talent. You can't go off of the past season's success in this league. Last year doesn't mean a damn thing in the NFL. Things can be totally different the next. |
Yeah but remember in 1998 we tried adding big names to the roster, Derrick Alexander, Chester McGlockton, and Leslie O'Neal. That didnt go over to well.

I said that back in the offseason. Are you trying to copy me? :p

Maybe we're destined to suck forever no matter what we do. Thanks for ruining my thread, ass. :cuss: |
We went nuts in FA in 98 and everybody and their dog, including Whitlock of all people, thought we were surefire Super Bowl locks.
It doesn't matter how you do it... it matters if you do it good. You can go out there and find a team that was active in FA (Seattle?.. come to think of it I don't think a single undefeated team was overly active in FA), and you go out there and find a team who tried to build from within (Indianapolis, who lost three defensive starters, had no FA pickups of note, and have used draft picks to fill in the holes, and they may actually be better this year than last year).... there's more than one way to skin a cat, but you've gotta do it well when you do it.... |

It may be time to wipe the front office clean after this year. |
