I just had a weird thought...
Remember when Gun first was hired? He said that he never watched last years tapes on the D because he wanted to find out about the D on his own.
Well thinking about it now I think he major mistake not doing so. First he probably would have walked off the job but secondly he would have wanted upgrades all over the place. Is this why we stood pat in the off season? You just can't polish a turd and thats what we have on D nobody. Dave |

That would have went over well... |

As much as I like Gun he's just odd enough to do just what he said. Dave |
He ended up watching the tapes. I can't remember the article or thread though. He talked about it...

Was it after free agency or the draft or?? Dave ~never saw the above mentioned article |

Well we know when he accepted the job it was before the heavy medication he is now on so he doesn't have a heart attack seeing his defense lay down and let whomever come in and smack them around.

Gun said he hadn't watched the tapes shortly after he had been hired. It was a couple weeks after that when he discussed some of last year's gamefilms in interviews. He saw the tapes, but he thought he could make some changes in the way these guys played. He still does. He thinks it's going to take 5 full games before they're playing his defense the way he wants them to. If that's the case, I'm not sure we couldn't have shortened the learning curve to 2 by playing starters most of the preseason games..... Right?

I sure would have like to seen the starters in for more than a couple series if this is true. From what I've seen these toads may be hopeless. Dave |
Well, it doesn't really matter. THe offense needs a lot of improvement as well. We've almost become predictable. Teams know how to shut us down.
Speaking of shutting us down, any word on Priest Holmes yet? |
It doesn't matter if gun watched the game tapes or not, the Chiefs D made other teams offensive highlights on ESPN every week

The defense played well in the first half yesterday. The offense sucked for nearly the entire game. When you spend the majority of your cap money on offense, you should be able to expect that offense to protect your defense a little bit. Not only did the offense fail to score enough points (10 points won't be adequate even against the worst NFL teams!?!) and fail to possess the ball long enough to give the defense a rest, they also failed to establish field position and gave the Panthers short fields throught the second half. |

I was worried he hurt himself on the flip dive into the endzone. Any word from anyone else. Dave |
