This franchise has, by my estimation, about 40+ years of FAIL to atone for, so forgive me if I don't just hop on ol' Andy's fat lap and start slurping his dick.

I would agree that it is not right say you are not a real fan, do not deserve to enjoy the wins, etc., because you are not satisfied with Alex Smith.
But it is an unusual phenomenon. Saw it a lot in 2011 on the Niners board.
Let's say you are like an abused child, starved, beaten, molested, and then you are rescued from your abusive environment by a well intentioned and capable relative. But instead of expressing gratitude for the immediate relief from your horrific situation, you act like a spoiled brat. "No, burgers tonight will not do. I demand filet mignon. NOWWWWWW!!!!!!!"
Like I said, it's kind of an unusual phenomenon, which I think kind of amazes people, and they tend to knee jerk with remarks like "you are not a true fan," rather than trying to help you with a rational psychological explanation, or even offer ideas for therapy.
