In 2011 Flowers signed a 6yr, ~$50 million contract with $22mill guaranteed.
In 2013 he restructured $4million salary into a signing bonus that would be spread out over 4yrs (i.e. helped the team save $3 mill against this yrs cap).
If the chiefs trade Flowers, than the chiefs would still have at least $6 million against the cap (likely all in 2014 because it would accelerate).
So for example, If Flowers is a chief in 2014 he would count $7.25 million against the cap. If the chiefs traded flowers, than he would still count at least $6 million against the cap.
It doesnt seem trading flowers is worth it since the team hasnt consistently shown it can draft well. Team would be trading a sure thing for, at best, a 50/50 prospect.
