It's simple; they want to believe that Andy and John, despite rehashing the same QB formula that has failed us more times than I can count, will "get it right this time".
There are people who have emotionally tied themselves to Reid, and there are people like myself that could care less if Albert Einstein walked through the door claiming he could make that formula work.
Because it doesn't.
But it doesn't matter to them, as long as they can carefully sugar-coat their denial in "I'm just a fan that wants the Chiefs to win, and you obviously aren't"-bullshit. As if bitching about professional sports teams who are currently winning is some strange, new phenomena in the known universe.
