He fled from the vehicle because he was getting back to his car to chase the moving van.
Besides, the guy that fired into the vehicle wouldn't have been at an angle to see that anyway.
That cop completely lost his cool. I'd be pretty comfortable with any of the rest of them in a foxhole with me; they were pretty levelheaded all things considered. That last guy, OTOH, is not the kind of personality I'd want to work in a high-stress situation with.
Remember - the difference between the great and the dead are often the ability to take that one extra breath and assess when all hell is breaking lose around him. This guy clearly lacks that ability.
