First, bless you for your kindness.

Now, my anecdote. I had some stuff stolen from the back of my work truck. It was in a secure lot in downtown San Francisco, and I just forgot to move things into the construction trailer.

I lost a jacket, work boots, flashlight and a fall protection harness. I figured, "well some homeless guy will be dolled up tomorrow.

My gym was 2 blocks away and I walked past a blue homeless tent on the sidewalk that I never really noticed until about a week after my stuff was stolen. That day, the tent is ripped up and my harness is on the sidewalk and my flashlight is in the gutter. No sign of my jacket or boots. I can only conclude he got rolled for having stuff too nice and he wasn't big enough to keep them.

Here is wishing the guy is big enough or mean enough to keep those pillows and blankets you gave him. It was still the right thing to do no matter what.
