They weren't great coming out. He had a tendency to throw flat footed in college. It's gotten much worse over the last four years. A lot of that is on him; he needs to be a master of his craft. However, it is ridiculous that the Lions haven't coached him harder to perfect his mechanics.
Stafford is reaching a fulcrum point in his career. He should be one of the five best QB's in the league, and he's not. Detroit needs to bring in someone to get the best out of him, but he has to be willing to implement those technical changes.
Regardless, they need to completely flush that coaching staff.
Todd Downing is their QB coach, and before that he was a defensive assistant/coffee boy. He's never been a positional coach before, and he's the guy you want coaching Matt Stafford? Are you ****ing kidding me?
