I'm pretty sure that play was designed the way it was executed. Charles is the vet with the big wheels, Hemingway is the young inexperienced blocker with subpar speed but a big frame that can block downfield. He missed the block, but it was still effective because his man had to step away from the play and by the time he regained levers, Charles was doing his TD celebration.
