I'm so confused...
Yesterday I used the Windows Backup and backed everything up to an external hard drive. I thought I put an image on it....this was my understanding of the process
Turn off laptop
Remove old HD
Install new HD
Plug in external USB HD
Turn on laptop
Boot from external USB HD
Is that not right?
