Leno might be the most conflicted about a person I have ever been in my existence. He's truly been an asshole to a number of people I respect and adore. I believe I said above Conan is my favorite late-nighter of all time. But I've also heard stories of his incredible kindness as well.
Adam Carolla recounts meeting Leno clear across the country at a function in NY, and Leno just tosses off 'eff Southwest Airlines, I got a jet, ride with me.' Drives him home in his personal car, out of the parking structure, Jay behind the wheel, to his doorstep.
Just because that was a practical and decent thing to do.
Just ponder the number of billionaires you could imagine offering to fly you across the country and personally drive you home because you are a decent dude they've met before.
And when Carolla relates industry stories, they are generally not warm and fuzzy stories. He is beholden to no one.
